CDS »
In all of its activities, CDS maintains a family centered focus. All information is presented at multiple levels of learning, and in a family's primary language, whenever possible. The program strives to be culturally sensitive by ensuring that the staff reflects the ethnic makeup of the community.
The parents, care givers and teachers' goals for a child are considered to be the central focus for program planning. Within the broad-spectrum goal of enhancing all areas of the child's development, individual programs are planned which reflect the child's and the family's strengths and needs.
The program provides complete developmental assessments, comprehensive intervention services, including Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapy. Staff provides specialty knowledge in their own fields as well as broad generalist expertise of child development, family dynamics and exceptionality.
Families are assisted in meeting and networking with other families. Information and support meetings are provided by the center's staff, and in collaboration with other parent support groups in the community.
Maximum involvement of caregivers in required and opportunities to learn and practice targeted goals from the child's IFSP are provided. These targeted goals and objectives should be embedded or integrated into play and daily activities of interest and meaning to the child.
Services are provided in familiar settings where children spend significant portions of their time (home, child care, play group, park, as well as our Therapy Center) They are also offered in settings where children can interact with peers, where appropriate.
Funding for these services is provided by medical insurance, private pay and referrals through the Tri-Counties Regional Center and local school districts. Physicians may also refer to CTS.
